Prom Night (1980) - Twin Love And The Unusual Suspects

Twin love. Twin magic. Another half. Twins can never be divided. If one twin separates, the other one dies. Emotionally. Mentally. Spiritually. Physically.

There is a twin out there somewhere for all of us they say. I still have yet to find mine. But the twins that form in the same uterus share an unbreakable bond from the beginning. They don't have to be exactly alike in personality or habits, but they are the ying to each other's yang. They don't need to supplement each other, but they do need to complement each other. From the moment they were conceived, their love was ironclad. They made a secret vow to enter the sick and cruel world together and always protect each other. God does my heart break every time I watch poor adorable, innocent Robin Hammond die by the hands of her selfish and taunting peers, who in all fairness, were just playing a "game".

The kids swear it was just an accident. But what do they know? They think they are invincible.

Kelly, Nick, Jude and Wendy...The Unusual Suspects start here....

Swear that you will keep this a secret. Nobody can ever find out. Nobody at all. We must carry on with our lives as if nothing ever happened...

I swear to you my dear beloved sister, I will not let your death go unnoticed. You were wrongfully ripped out of my life and my heart, now I will rip into the others all in good time. All in good time...

Of course, we all have our own way of dealing with guilt...

Fast forward 6 years later on Prom Night and on Robin Hammond's death anniversary...

Wendy:

Angry bitter bitch who can't deal with rejection too well. She wont let Nick go even though it is very evident he is madly in love with Kim Hammond, the older sister of twins Robin and Alex.

Jude:

Sweet girl who stays close friends with Kim Hammond.

Kelly:

Prude in a prom dress who suffers from physical intimacy issues and ends up getting dumped on Prom Night for not "giving it up". She too, remains close friends with Kim, most likely out of guilt.

Nick:

King of the Prom and his Queen.

Now is the time. Prom Night. This is your night tonight and it's my night too. It's MY turn now....

The ending always makes me cry. It's hard not to choke up throughout the movie in fact. Now both brother and sister are reunited in Heaven. But what becomes of Kim and Nick now? He is the only one who survives Prom Night. Does he tell Kim the truth? What becomes of their Prom Night love now?
