The Omen Release Date - June 6th, 1976...
You get what you put out there and when you put out your fascination with Satan and The Occult, then you just provided the Devil his tools..
The Fatal Car Crash
Remember this??
Director John Richardson and his assistant Liz Moore were involved in a severe collision in Holland a couple of months after the film's release. Moore was decapitated in the fatal collision. Richardson was unconscious but when he finally opened his eyes, he saw the sign that read ONMEN, 6,66. You tell me, what are the odds?
The Suicide
After Gregory Peck agreed to the role of playing the adopted Father to the cute and adorable Damien Thorn, his son shot himself in the head. Though grief struck, Peck went along to play Robert Thorn, however, on his flight to England where the film was being shot, he almost did not make it across the ocean.
Robert Munger, who conceived of The Omen, forewarned with this chilling prophesy: "The Devil's greatest weapon is to be invisible and you are going to take his cloak of invisibility off to millions of people". Superstitious or not?
Lightning's Double Flash Dance
Gregory Peck's plane gets struck by lightning while crossing The Atlantic. A few days later, Producer Mace Neufeld's plane gets struck by lightning too while crossing the same Atlantic. One of the shots that involved a rental plane also suffered an ominous fate. At the last minute aircrafts were switched and the original plane was given to a bunch of Japanese businessmen. The plane crashed and everybody was killed.. Apparently Satan approved of this round trip..
Here Boy....
During that scene where Robert Thorn and Keith Jennings are being chased by the blood thirsty canines through the cemetery, a stuntman was actually brutally attacked because the dog refused to listen to the trainer. Devil dog maybe..
For the original scene where the zoo tigers attempt to attack Damien, Zookeeper Sidney Bamford, unlike the stuntman, was not so lucky. He had failed to secure one of the tigers and the wild cat ended up mauling him to death.
Mace Neufeld Lives...
Lightning strikes, bombings and explosions in hotels and restaurants, have been dodged by Mace Neufeld. I guess The Devil gave up because Mace Neufeld is still alive and producing top well known movies. Unless the Devil did not really give up and is now waiting for the perfect timing...
