The Rottweiler

Nick and Maryanne Watson took a mini vacation for the weekend up to the lake and rented a cabin 2 hours away. It was a way for them to decompress from their daily work routine. Both were nurses at the local hospital and worked tiresome schedules. To avoid complete burn out, they decided to take this little trip.

The cabin was in the middle of nowhere. All wilderness but nice. The nearest gas station and convenience store was fifteen minutes away. Luckily, they didn't see any wild animals yet. The cabin itself was comfortable and cozy. They would spend the first night by the fireplace, sharing a warm and romantic meal. Ah, it was so nice to relax.

Around 10:30 P.M., the full moon was out. Maryanne took a look outside in the back. There was a silhouette of what seemed to be a dog, right behind the cabin. She looked closely and saw that the dog was a full Rottweiler breed. It was a ferocious looking large sized canine. All of a sudden, Maryanne started to feel nervous and frightened. Although her and Nick loved dogs, this one in particular she was not too fond of. She had no desire to go out and pet it. But where did the dog come from? There were no other cabins neighboring theirs. The Rottweiler all of a sudden started to lie down and roll on the ground. It seemed as though it needed to be pet or maybe it was hurt. But nobody was there. Was it a stray? Nick called his wife to bed. He was wondering what she was so preoccupied with outside. "It was nothing" she told her husband.
