The Twilight Zone- Time Enough At Last -1959

The Twilight Zone - Time Enough At Last

What would you do if you had nothing but time? You could do absolutely anything you want with no deadline to anticipate. It sounds too fantastic doesn't it? You are in your own personal little realm with everything in the world that ever mattered to you. All the books you can read, all the food you can eat, you get the picture.  And you are all alone with nobody to stand in your way.. Isn't that what bank teller and bookworm Henry Bemis wanted for himself? A solitary life with nothing but books, books, and more books..

Henry Bemis, though married to a wife that will never comprehend his passion for reading, is a man who only finds fulfillment in anything he can read.  The crux of all his conversations revolve around whatever book or paper he is reading. His own mental library is the wall he built for himself shutting every human being out.  Everybody is tired of him including his own wife Helen, who forbids him to read at home. Who can blame them? He cannot seem to veer away from reading.  Even during work hours, he tries to squeeze in reading time. His obsession causes him to short change his customer, hence, getting into hot water with the boss. His boss had to recollect the time Henry got hit with an umbrella by a customer who was donning a slogan that Henry could not take his eyes off of. During lunch breaks, he goes to the vault where there is nothing but books. Books, books, and more books....

Until...

In a second, the world blows up. Henry steps outside of the vault and finds nothing but remnants of his previous life.

Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore....

For a brief moment, solitude isn't what he had hoped it would be..until, he finally finds company..and that company includes....BOOKS! Books, books, and more books!!

Ahh yes..all the books he can read. Nobody to condemn him for his passion or for lack of time. That's just it..there is nothing but time..time enough at last....
